HP Urges Government to Address Security Breaches
The People's Party (HP) has called on the government to implement urgent measures to address security vulnerabilities in the country.
In a statement, HP highlighted that “the apprehension of three different assassins with weapons over the past six months exposes serious security flaws.”
Referring to a recent incident, the party noted that "a hitman entered the country hidden in a truck through Famagusta Port," questioning how this was possible despite the presence of a mobile X-ray scanning system at the port.
“Are the X-ray machines not operational, or are they simply not being used?” the statement asked, recalling that these devices were also deemed ineffective during previous investigations into alleged money laundering activities.
HP emphasized that the entry of armed individuals into the country not only facilitates assassination attempts but also paves the way for drug trafficking, money laundering, and other illegal activities.
Accusing the government of an “indifferent” attitude toward security concerns, HP warned that the rising number of incidents is causing significant public anxiety.
The party urged the government to conduct a thorough investigation into the recent events and share the findings with the public. It also stressed the need for immediate actions to close security gaps.
