Rapper Reckol Receives Extended Detention on Drug Charges
Turkish rapper Recep Eker, known by his stage name Reckol, who was apprehended in Omorfo on December 31, 2024, with pills suspected to contain narcotics, will remain in custody for an additional four days as part of the ongoing investigation.
Reckol and Lilian Khaled were brought before the court today on charges of "illegal possession and use of narcotics" and "violating the Pharmacy and Medicine Law."
During the hearing, the police presented evidence, stating that on the evening of December 31, a vehicle with license plate ZSD 106 was stopped on the Omorfo-Nicosia main road near Mevlevi Roundabout by teams from the Criminal Investigation, Crime Prevention, and Traffic Units of the Omorfo Police Department. A search of the vehicle uncovered two grams of a substance believed to be a narcotic, which was seized as evidence.
The police further reported that Reckol, a passenger in the vehicle, was found in possession of 18 pills in violation of the Pharmacy and Medicine Law. The pills, allegedly green-prescription medications, were also seized. Reckol claimed that the pills were prescribed in Türkiye for his treatment, a matter that will be investigated further.
The substances found have been sent for analysis, and the court approved the police's request to extend the detention of both suspects for four more days to continue the investigation.
