Rapper Reckol Sent to Prison
Famous Turkish rapper Recep Eker, known by his stage name Reckol, along with Lilian Khaled, has been sent to prison after being caught with drugs in their possession on New Year’s Eve. The two were arrested while visiting the country to perform a concert.
During their court appearance in Omorfo today, police revealed details of the incident. On December 31, 2024, a vehicle with license plate ZSD 106 was stopped by police on the Omorfo-Nicosia main road near the Mevlevi roundabout. Upon searching the driver, Lilian Khaled, approximately two grams of cannabis were found in her jacket pocket. Passenger Recep Eker was found to be in possession of 17 Xanax pills and one Lyrica tablet, both considered illegal under the Pharmaceuticals and Pharmacy Law.
The suspects were brought to court three times and held under custody for a total of nine days during the investigation. Police stated that the seized substances had been sent for analysis and that the investigation was now complete.
The court ruled that both suspects, who were in the country on tourist visas, be sent to prison for up to 20 days while awaiting trial.
