Four Traffic Accidents: Nine Injured, One Arrested
A total of nine people were injured in four traffic accidents that occurred in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) over the past two days. One individual was arrested in connection with one of the accidents.
According to the Police Press Bulletin, the first accident took place early this morning on the Kyrenia-Değirmenlik main road. Muhammad Shahzad (23), driving the vehicle with registration plate ET 689, attempted to overtake another vehicle traveling in the same direction. While doing so, he carelessly veered onto the right side of the road, causing his vehicle to lose control. The vehicle collided with an advertising sign and then hit an embankment before rolling over and landing on its roof.
The driver and three passengers, Ali Haider (21), Başharat Ali (24), and Kartik Ratial Vınzuda (22), were taken to Kyrenia Dr. Akçiçek Hospital. Ali Haider and Başharat Ali were discharged after treatment, while Shahzad was transferred to the Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital's Neurosurgery Department. Passenger Kartik Ratial Vınzuda remains under observation in the Kyrenia Dr. Suat Günsel Hospital Intensive Care Unit.
Vehicle Overturns After Losing Control
In Nicosia, another accident occurred at 2:30 AM today when Mehmet Yusuf Keser (20) lost control of his vehicle with registration plate LB 877 while approaching a right-hand curve near the Near East University dormitories. The vehicle veered off the road, hit the university's surrounding fences, and overturned, coming to a stop on its roof. Keser was treated at the Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital and was discharged.
Vehicle Rolls Over in a Field
Another incident occurred on the Haspolat-Taşkent main road at around 5:00 PM yesterday. Ali Ghadırı (30), driving the vehicle with registration plate KA 213, lost control of the car due to inattention. The vehicle went off the road and flipped over in a field. Ghadırı and his three passengers, Marjan Alıkhanzadeh (31), Mona Rashıdıfar (27), and Shekoufeh Tarıghat (30), were treated at Nicosia Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital and were discharged.
Alcohol and Carelessness Cause Accident
The fourth accident occurred on the Nicosia-Kyrenia main road at around 9:00 PM yesterday. Cristian Tudorache (47), under the influence of 163 milligrams of alcohol, lost control of his vehicle, with registration plate KVD 398. The car went off the road, collided with a military unit's fence, and crashed into a pine tree before stopping. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident.
As part of the ongoing investigation, Cristian Tudorache was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and causing an accident.
The police investigation into these incidents is ongoing.
