Salih Özgünalp, 68, died after losing control of his vehicle on on January 10, while 73-year-old İlmiza Yiğit was killed in an accident on the Ercan-Iskele highway on January 13. On the same day, 50-year-old Atlen Ekren lost his life in a crash on the Çayırova-Büyükkonuk road.

In 2023, 48 people died in traffic accidents, with the number rising to 50 in 2024. The alarming start to 2025 reflects the continuing risks faced by road users.
