According to Haravgi newspaper, AKEL reiterated its support for the opening of new crossings ahead of the leaders' meeting scheduled for Monday. The statement emphasized that the opening of new crossing points would not only ease the daily lives of many Greek and Turkish Cypriots, but also create a positive atmosphere for the expanded talks on the Cyprus issue.

The report also noted AKEL’s reference to the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' recent report, which stressed the necessity of reaching an agreement on crossing points.

AKEL urged the leaders to avoid toxic rhetoric in their next meetings and to move forward with actions that benefit both sides. It also called on the public to support efforts to open the new crossing points.
