In a written statement, the PGM reported that during the first 17 days of the year, six fatal traffic accidents claimed the lives of seven people, including four drivers and three passengers.

The statement highlighted that five of the accidents resulted from excessive speeding, one from carelessness, and one involved a driver under the influence of alcohol.

The PGM expressed concern over the tragic start to 2025 and appealed to drivers for greater caution:

"We began 2025 with new hopes, but unfortunately, we are facing a grim reality in terms of traffic accidents. As of January 17, six fatal traffic accidents have occurred nationwide, resulting in the loss of seven lives, including four drivers and three passengers.

When examining the causes, it was determined that five accidents occurred due to excessive speed, one due to carelessness, and one involved a driver under the influence of alcohol.

These incidents clearly demonstrate that most accidents are caused by driver errors, particularly speeding, and failure to comply with traffic rules. Drivers are also observed to operate vehicles carelessly and without foresight.

We call on all drivers to adhere to traffic rules and wish everyone safe and accident-free journeys."
