The discussions focused on the potential opening of new crossing points and steps to build confidence between the communities. The meeting followed the informal dinner hosted by the UN Secretary-General in New York on October 15.

In a joint statement, Tatar and Christodoulides agreed that opening new crossing points would enhance interpersonal contacts across the island, strengthen economic ties, and contribute to mutual confidence-building efforts. They emphasized the socio-economic benefits such measures would bring to both Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots.

The leaders also exchanged views on other issues during the meeting. It was agreed that negotiations would continue and that they would meet again in the coming days to further discuss these matters.
