Bıçaklı: We Will Submit Written Objection Regarding Minimum Wage Increase
TÜRK-SEN President Arslan Bıçaklı expressed strong opposition to the 7.5% increase in the minimum wage, pointing out that it falls below the 11.12% inflation rate for the last four months.
Bıçaklı stated that this move contradicts the Equality Principle in the Constitution and vowed to submit an official written objection within the legal deadline.
In a written statement, Bıçaklı condemned the increase, stating that the government's actions were unjust and unacceptable. He emphasized that the union would fight relentlessly for a fair adjustment.
Bıçaklı’s statement read:
“Recently, the significant price increases in our country have severely reduced the purchasing power of our people. Despite this, the State Planning Organization has announced an inflation rate of 11.12% for the last four months. While high-ranking officials such as the President, Prime Minister, Ministers, Undersecretaries, and Directors, earning salaries of 200,000-300,000 TL, will receive an 11.12% increase in their salaries, workers earning the minimum wage of 35,000 TL will only see a 7.5% increase, which is below the inflation rate.
We absolutely reject this application, which violates the Equality Principle in our Constitution, and we will formally submit our written objection within the legal deadline. Furthermore, there should be no doubt that we will fight for the correction of this ugly and unacceptable practice.”
