In a social media post, Serim explained that in case of arrest, detention, or imprisonment of TRNC citizens abroad, necessary support will be provided. He emphasized that Turkey will continue to stand by the TRNC at all times.

Serim's statement read:

"The Agreement on providing consular assistance to TRNC citizens, signed between our country and the TRNC on July 20, 2023, has been approved by the Turkish Grand National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee.

TRNC citizens will receive assistance from Turkey’s diplomatic missions, which have the third-largest diplomatic representation network in the world. This will help prevent difficulties they may encounter abroad and ensure they can access consular services.

In case of arrest, detention, or imprisonment in foreign countries, necessary support will be provided.

We will never leave the Turkish Cypriot people, whom we consider as our own citizens, alone anywhere in the world. As the Republic of Turkey, we will always be by their side."
