In a written statement, Basın-Sen argued that the newly set minimum wage of 37,818 TL is quickly eroding due to the cost of living, condemning workers to live below the poverty line. The union highlighted that basic needs such as food, shelter, transportation, and healthcare continue to rise, making it impossible to survive on the current wage.

The statement emphasized that human living standards must be the basis when determining the minimum wage, adding:

"The fact that private sector workers are condemned to lower salaries than public sector employees deepens inequality and injustice. This injustice must end, and the minimum wage should immediately be aligned with the lowest public sector salary.

The practice of employing workers without union representation should be immediately banned, and the freedom to organize should be guaranteed while protecting workers' rights.

The fundamental duty of a state is to provide citizens with humane living conditions. Therefore, the minimum wage must be raised to a level that meets this responsibility.

As the Press Workers' Union, our message is clear: we are determined to increase our struggle to raise the minimum wage to a fair level that guarantees a dignified life, and we call on all workers to join our fight to achieve a minimum wage that makes humane living possible."
