In a statement from his office, Taçoy emphasized that UBP's sole objective is to achieve single-party rule. He suggested that winning the presidential election in October could pave the way for an early general election aimed at this goal.

Speaking during a program on Ada TV, Taçoy criticized the ongoing debates in Northern Cyprus over whether the government should continue, highlighting the significant political developments in the region, including Cyprus. He expressed concern that such discussions are inappropriate during such a critical period.

Referring to the coalition government formed after the 2022 elections, Taçoy noted that UBP has remained patient despite challenges caused by its coalition partners, viewing them as “internal party matters.”

Taçoy claimed that YDP leader Erhan Arıklı and YDP MP Talip Atalay intentionally skipped Monday's parliamentary session and ignored multiple calls. “If you want to leave, leave. If you don’t, keep quiet and stay put,” Taçoy remarked.

Stressing the importance of UBP winning the presidential election in October, Taçoy called for the immediate selection and announcement of the party's candidate. He described President Ersin Tatar’s declaration of his intention to run for re-election as a historic statement, urging UBP's leadership to act accordingly.

Taçoy concluded by expressing confidence that UBP could achieve single-party rule following an early general election, should its candidate win the presidency, citing recent poll results as evidence.
