Responding to questions at a press briefing held at the Ministry, MSB sources addressed the Navtex issued by the GCA for drilling operations in Block 5, located near Turkey’s continental shelf:

“The navigation warning issued by the GCA is outside our maritime jurisdiction area and 11.5 miles, approximately 22 kilometers, south of it. In this context, we have been closely monitoring the activities of the vessel since January 19, 2025. The rights and interests of both our country and the TRNC will continue to be defended resolutely. Any violation of our continental shelf will be immediately prevented in the field.

Our state has the expertise and knowledge to address such matters. All aspects are being evaluated, and necessary steps will be taken at the appropriate time.”
