Tatar: "The Foundation of Business Success is the State"
President Ersin Tatar attended the 24th Ordinary General Assembly of the Northern Cyprus Young Businesspeople Association (GİAD). In his speech, President Tatar emphasized that the foundation of the successes achieved by businesspeople is the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), highlighting the importance of protecting and strengthening the state.
President Tatar congratulated the Turkish Cypriot youth and businesspeople for keeping up with technological developments, noting that the Turkish Cypriots have defied embargoes for years. He emphasized that both the private and public sectors have implemented practices considering global innovations and developments.
President Tatar stated that businesspeople who have received good education and invested in the TRNC have taken their family businesses to better positions, which is a source of pride and strength for the Turkish Cypriots. He stressed the importance of maintaining security and stability in Cyprus, noting that investments cannot be made if there are issues on the island.
President Tatar also emphasized the need to support the state's institutions and organizations, stating, "Legislative, executive, and judicial powers must be strengthened so that businesspeople can have more opportunities. My greatest wish is to leave a sustainable economy for future generations."
New Border Crossing to Facilitate Socioeconomic Purposes
President Tatar highlighted his efforts over the past four years to open a border crossing in Haspolat and bring the issue to the United Nations' agenda. He proposed opening a second crossing in Akıncılar to alleviate traffic congestion at the Metehan crossing. President Tatar noted that the Greek Cypriot side wants transit passage and that the crossing is intended to facilitate socioeconomic purposes. He concluded his speech by stating:
"Stability is important. The unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is gaining acceptance worldwide. The concept of two states and peoples in Cyprus is taking root. As the foundation of the state strengthens, investment opportunities will increase. Graduates from universities and vocational schools should be employed. Support for intermediate staff is essential. Despite disasters and crises affecting the world and our country, there are improvements in the economy."
