Erhürman: This Country and Its People Will See Better Days
In his speech, CTP General President Tufan Erhürman highlighted the current state of the country, noting that a "terrible chapter" had recently been opened in the nation's history. He emphasized the need to close this chapter and pointed out the issues faced in the parliament. Erhürman stated that if half of these issues had occurred during CTP coalitions, the government would have fallen ten times over. He declared that the current "government" is finished and lacks the will to announce its end. Erhürman stressed the importance of being prepared for an early general election, which he believes is imminent.
Erhürman stated, "This country, this people, and our children are destined for CTP to come to power. There is no other option." He emphasized that it is their duty and obligation to ensure this, warning that if the current mindset remains in power for another five years, the country will become unrecognizable. Erhürman pointed out the collapse in all areas of production and criticized the current government's lack of effort in addressing problems. He added, "They claim the economy is not shifting southward with indifference. They say they have increased people's purchasing power. They say it without hesitation. CTP has reached a point where it can embrace the entire society with the right policies. CTP is destined to come to power. This country, this people will see better days."
Ongun Talat: Continuing with the Same Solidarity, Achieving Many Victories in the New Process
Kyrenia District President and Member of Parliament Ongun Talat recalled that they took over the duty in July 2022 and have been carrying it out with great enthusiasm. He emphasized that shortly after taking over, the local election process began, and they started with great ambition and achieved significant success. Talat highlighted the important success they achieved in the Kyrenia district, stating, "I am proud to be the president of the Kyrenia District organization. We demonstrated significant teamwork. We overcame democratic processes with a process that should be an example not only for party politics but also for national politics."
Talat expressed gratitude to those who contributed to the successful execution of the process, emphasizing the importance of "goodwill." He highlighted one of their most important victories as winning the Kyrenia Municipality and recalled their victories in the Çatalköy-Esentepe Municipality and Dikmen Municipality. Talat stated, "It was a process where we gained experience," and noted that CTP proved itself with its success in local administrations. He emphasized their duty to transfer their victories in local administrations to other areas of power, stating, "We will achieve the highest success in the presidential election in Kyrenia." Talat also highlighted the possibility of an early general election and emphasized the importance of being prepared for it. He stated, "Our most important duty will be to be ready for those elections." Talat concluded by emphasizing their march towards central power in Kyrenia, stating, "We worked with a young and dynamic team. We raised the bar by benefiting from the experiences of our party elders. We established very serious ties and relationships with all segments of the people. In this context, we took important steps to protect their rights in many areas. In the new period, we will continue on this path with the same solidarity and unity. Together, we will achieve many victories in the new process."
Mehmet Ali Talat: CTP Has Very Important Duties
Former CTP General President and 2nd President Mehmet Ali Talat, speaking at the congress, noted that the country is at an important stage. Talat stated, "Important developments are taking place in our country. Our people are going through significant stages and experiencing difficulties. Our country is struggling in an important impasse." He emphasized that under these conditions, CTP has very important duties. Talat stated, "We need to be aware of this. We need to prepare for the future with this awareness." He pointed out that a presidential election is on the horizon, stating, "The presidential election will be held, and the outcome of this election will be decisive for the fate of this country." Talat emphasized that four and a half years have passed without any steps being taken for the Turkish Cypriots, stating, "Such a thing has never happened in history. We will experience a period where CTP will face important duties." He highlighted the importance of the struggle to be waged both on the streets and in the parliament for the future of the Turkish Cypriot people, stating, "We need to work hard and shape the future of society together."
