President Tatar stated that Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides exceeded the framework of the agreement made during an informal dinner with Guterres regarding the opening of new border crossings. "The proposed package has nothing to do with the framework we agreed upon, so I will write a letter to the Secretary-General," Tatar said.

"They Can Accept Two States Overnight"

Expressing his desire for a solution, Tatar opposed associating the solution with a federation and emphasized the need for a two-state solution. "Our sovereignty is not a matter of negotiation. The TRNC can also be part of the EU as two states. If they want, they can accept the two states overnight," he stated.

"In 20 Years, They Will Say 'This Is Ours'"

Highlighting the excellence of the proposals presented to the Greek Cypriot side regarding border crossings, Tatar said, "Transit issues are different from other issues. Citizens want relief at the crossings." He pointed out that Christodoulides' proposal for 'transit passage' is a form of 'territorial adjustment,' warning, "In 20 years, they will say 'this is ours,'" emphasizing the danger.

Tatar Criticizes Christodoulides' Proposal

President Ersin Tatar criticized Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides' proposal for 'transit passage,' stating that according to military personnel and locals, it amounts to territorial adjustment. "In 20 years, they will tell you 'this is ours'..." he remarked.

Tatar also mentioned that the Greek Cypriot side played the same game regarding the Yiğitler-Pile road, noting that a beautiful road was built. "Opening the Pile road is our greatest right. The stance of the Turkish Cypriot side is clear," he said.

Reaction to Missing Persons Committee Proposal

President Tatar pointed out the proposal related to the Committee on Missing Persons in Christodoulides' 8-point package, stating, "Their goal is to politicize the Committee on Missing Persons," and expressed his reaction.

Letter to Guterres

President Ersin Tatar highlighted that the UN Peacekeeping Force is financed by the Greek Cypriot administration and complained about the partiality of the UN's representative in Cyprus. Tatar mentioned that he is considering writing a letter to UN Secretary-General António Guterres regarding the views he presented at the table, and that he will write the letter before February 10, before the visit of UN Deputy Secretary-General Rosemary Anne DiCarlo to the island.

Tatar stated that Christodoulides exceeded the framework of the agreement made during the informal dinner with Guterres, saying, "The proposed package has nothing to do with the framework we agreed upon, so I will write a letter."

Upcoming Informal Summit

President Tatar mentioned that the informal broad-based summit planned for March is an opportunity and noted that the UK will participate at a low level.

"Sovereign Living is Not Sovereignty"

President Tatar stated, "Everyone has accepted that there are two states in Cyprus. Turkey is pushing this agenda everywhere it goes. Everyone listens and knows. We are now at the state level. 'Sovereign living' is not sovereignty. When I brought up the cat-dog issue, they said, 'They do it in Brussels, and we implement it.' Now Brussels will do it, and they will add to it while implementing it... This is 'sovereign.' A sovereign state can cooperate in the future," he explained.
