In a written statement, Serhat also noted that the Ministry of Labor and Social Security has initiated work to provide salary support to TRNC citizens working on minimum wage, following the directive of Prime Minister Ünal Üstel.

Serhat recalled that the Minimum Wage Determination Commission set the minimum wage, effective from January 1, on January 17. He reminded that the Cyprus Turkish Workers' Unions Federation (Türk-Sen), Cyprus Workers' and Laborers' Unions Federation (KİEF), Cyprus Turkish Teachers' Union (KTÖS), and Free-Work Unions Federation had objected to the determined amount.

Serhat stated that the Commission convened today to discuss the objections, with 5 members representing the state, 5 members representing the workers, and 3 members representing the employers attending the meeting.

During the meeting, the parties presented their views on the determination of the minimum wage, and the amount was re-discussed. Serhat explained the outcome:

"After presenting their views, the determined minimum wage was put to a vote. The state side voted 5 in favor, the employer side voted 3 in favor, while the worker side left the meeting.

As a result, the minimum wage effective from January 1 was set at 250.78 TL per hour, 2,006.26 TL per day, 10,031.30 TL per week, and 43,469.00 TL per month. It was proposed and voted by majority to apply these criteria with a 30% discount for apprentices aged 15 to 17, as defined by law.

Following Prime Minister Ünal Üstel's directive, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security has started working to provide salary support for TRNC citizens working on minimum wage."
