Christodoulides Unveils 2025 Agenda

President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, held a press conference to outline his government's planned actions for 2025.

According to Politis and other newspapers, Christodoulides announced over 80 political and other reforms, along with five main goals for 2025.

The five main goals are: expanding influence and addressing the Cyprus issue, enhancing security, implementing reforms, transforming Cyprus digitally, and creating a strong economy.

Regarding the Cyprus issue, Christodoulides aims to revive international interest to create momentum for restarting negotiations. He reiterated the claim that EU-Turkey relations and the Cyprus issue are clearly interconnected.

On the topic of security, Christodoulides mentioned plans to upgrade the "Andreas Papandreou" base and the "Evangelos Florakis" naval base, with the goal of transforming Cyprus into a defense systems production center.

Two New Drilling Operations

Christodoulides also addressed energy, stating that at least two drilling operations are planned for 2025 in the "Ilektra" and "Pigasos" fields.

He announced a visit to Egypt on February 17, during which agreements will be signed for the commercial exploitation of natural gas in the "Kronos" and "Aphrodite" fields.

Christodoulides further detailed steps taken and planned to address the refugee issue and improve the economy.
