DiCarlo Expected to Meet with Leaders on February 10

The UN Secretary-General's Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo, is expected to hold separate meetings with President Ersin Tatar and President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, on February 10 in Cyprus. These meetings are part of ongoing efforts to address the Cyprus issue.

Haravgi newspaper reported that the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative in Cyprus, Colin Stewart, will also meet separately with the leaders tomorrow.

Citing unnamed sources, the newspaper noted that the official schedule for DiCarlo’s visit will be announced by the UN, and the date for the leaders’ discussion on border crossings is expected to be finalized soon.

Special Representative and Negotiator Meetings Today

Meanwhile, according to a report in the newspaper citing UNFICYP Spokesperson Aleem Siddique, Colin Stewart will meet with the President's Special Representative Güneş Onar and Greek Cypriot negotiator Menelaos Menelau this morning.

Stewart is also scheduled to meet with President Christodoulides and President Tatar tomorrow.

Alithia newspaper, in its report titled "Moves Increase Ahead of Expanded Meeting," stated that diplomatic maneuvers and efforts have intensified in light of the critical informal five-party conference expected in March, aimed at exploring the potential for restarting Cyprus negotiations.

It was also reported that Greek Foreign Minister Yorgos Yerapetridis had a phone call with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres regarding the Cyprus issue, and Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz visited the TRNC yesterday.

Politis newspaper reported under the headline "Seeking Solutions on Border Crossings" that Rosemary DiCarlo is pressuring the parties to reach an agreement on opening new border crossings before her visit to the island on February 10.
