Extra Bonuses and Salary Support for Minimum Wage Earners in TRNC
Minister of Labor and Social Security Sadık Gardiyanoğlu announced on Kıbrıs Postası TV that they have initiated work to provide extra bonuses and salary support for TRNC citizens earning minimum wage.
Gardiyanoğlu stated that they have started this initiative under the instructions of Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and emphasized that the exact figures will be determined within 10-15 days.
Speaking on the program "Morning Post with Gökhan Altıner," Gardiyanoğlu explained the developments regarding the new minimum wage.
Gardiyanoğlu noted that the minimum wage has been set below the cost of living for a long time, causing significant difficulties not only for workers but also for employers. He acknowledged the challenges faced by many employers in making payments and stated, "The reactions of those who say we didn't consider the minimum wage earners again but thought of the employers are understandable. However, if we had reflected the entire cost of living, employers might have had to lay off their employees."
He explained that the government must consider both minimum wage earners and employers and has found a solution accordingly.
