Greek Cypriot Police Investigate Threats Against Christodoulides
The Greek Cypriot police have launched an investigation into threats made against President Nikos Christodoulides on social media.
According to a brief statement from the police, the investigation is ongoing in cooperation with relevant authorities. Press Spokesperson Kiriakis Lambrianidu confirmed that while the investigation is progressing, no further details will be disclosed at this stage.
The investigation was initiated following threats made against Christodoulides, allegedly by an Israeli individual linked to an ongoing investigation into the sale of Greek Cypriot properties in the TRNC. Questions have been raised regarding how the suspect obtained Christodoulides's phone number and whether any promises were made by Christodoulides.
The police have assured that security measures for Christodoulides have been increased. Meanwhile, the suspect's lawyer, Maria Neofitu, has requested official information from the prison administration regarding the search conducted in the suspect's cell.
