Kombos stated that all parties need to prepare for the process and that clear messages must be conveyed ahead of UN Under-Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo's visit and the multilateral conference.
According to reports, Kombos highlighted the importance of the other side shaping its stance and position regarding the negotiations on the Cyprus issue. He mentioned that the Greek Cypriot side's position was clearly communicated to the UN Secretary-General a few weeks before DiCarlo's visit and the multilateral conference.
Kombos assured that the Greek Cypriot side is well-prepared and committed to resuming substantive negotiations within the framework set by the Security Council. He emphasized that this readiness is entirely dependent on their own will, not on external factors.
During his meeting with the UN Secretary-General, Kombos reiterated the Greek Cypriot side's unwavering commitment to resuming substantial negotiations immediately. He stressed the need for all involved parties to be adequately prepared to achieve a positive outcome.
Furthermore, Kombos mentioned the dynamic development of relations between Cyprus and the United States, continuing contacts with the new American administration, and the importance of analyzing the political realities of the Cyprus issue accurately.
