Özersay to Meet with Jailed KSTU Partner Amid Fake Diploma Scandal
People's Party (HP) leader Kudret Özersay announced that he will meet with Serdal Gündüz, a minor partner of Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University (KSTU), who is currently in prison as a "remanded detainee" as part of an ongoing fake diploma and corruption investigation.
In a written statement, Özersay noted that Gündüz had requested to appear in court, implying that he would provide more detailed explanations if given assurance.
Özersay also stated that Gündüz claimed to have been threatened, adding, “It is clear that he wants to speak but does not trust the process. The real question is whether there are individuals preventing him from testifying and implicating others in the legal proceedings.”
“If his testimony extends to political figures, we will listen to him and ensure that he is not under pressure. We will also keep the public informed in a way that does not interfere with the judicial process, to guarantee transparency and prevent anything from being covered up,” Özersay said.
