The contractor Uğur Tosunoğlu, who won the tender for the new Central Bank building opened by the Central Tender Commission, has been arrested on charges of presenting fraudulent financial statements and a fake debt-free certificate. His father, Independent MP Hasan Tosunoğlu, strongly defended his son, accusing the authorities of launching a smear campaign.

Hasan Tosunoğlu argued that the company managed by his son had made the most reasonable offer during the tender process, which was approved by the Central Tender Commission. He emphasized that the state gained significant financial advantage due to the project being awarded at a price far below expectations. "Clearly, someone was disturbed by this outcome," he said.
He described the developments following the completion of the tender as increasingly bizarre, claiming that the situation had evolved into an attempt to discredit his son.
“We Will Emerge from This Attack with Our Heads Held High”
Referring to the police investigation into the alleged forgery of documents during the tender process, Hasan Tosunoğlu pointed out that his son's lawyer had already dismissed the accusations as baseless in court. "The truth will emerge in the courts," he said, adding, "They will not bring us down. We will come out of this attack with our heads held high."
Hasan Tosunoğlu also criticized the public for making premature judgments about the ongoing case, saying, "Some are getting involved for political reasons, others for their own purposes. I even find it unnecessary to remind people of the presumption of innocence."
“We Will Speak Out Soon”
Concluding his statement, Hasan Tosunoğlu promised that more details would be shared with the public in the near future. "We have much to say on this matter. We will speak out soon, and with full transparency," he concluded, signaling that the controversy surrounding the issue is far from over.
