Erdoğan: Pakistan’s Support for the Just Cause of Turkish Cypriots Is Deeply Meaningful

Ahead of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting, Erdoğan stated that he and Sharif discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and global developments. "We agree on intensifying our efforts to reach our $5 billion trade volume target," he said.

Highlighting economic collaboration, Erdoğan stated, “Through the Türkiye-Pakistan Business Forum, we encourage our investors—who drive economic cooperation—to expand their presence in Pakistan.”

He also underscored the strong counterterrorism cooperation between the two countries, saying, “We feel Pakistan’s strong support in our fight against all forms of terrorism, including PKK, YPG, Daesh, and FETÖ.” He reiterated Türkiye’s support for Pakistan’s own fight against terrorism.

Regarding the Turkish Cypriot issue, Erdoğan stated, “Pakistan’s support for the just cause of Turkish Cypriots is deeply meaningful for us.”

The leaders also reached agreements to strengthen bilateral ties, with Erdoğan announcing, “Within the framework of the Seventh High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council Meeting, 24 agreements were signed.”

On the Palestinian issue, Erdoğan reaffirmed Türkiye’s stance:

“We will persistently advocate for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with geographical integrity, based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. At a time when inhumane proposals seek to uproot our Gazan brothers and sisters from their homeland, we believe it is essential to reinforce our resolute stance.”
