Hasipoğlu Recalls Joint Statement: "Greek Cypriot Side Refuses to Share Governance"

Secretary-General of the National Unity Party (UBP), Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu, highlighted the joint statement signed 11 years ago, emphasizing that "since February 2014, no agreement has been reached between the two sides. Following statements made by former Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiades regarding the Crans-Montana negotiations, Hasipoğlu responded with a post on social media.

Sharing a photo from the negotiation table alongside former President Derviş Eroğlu, Hasipoğlu wrote: "Eleven years ago today, under the leadership of then-President Derviş Eroğlu, we signed the only comprehensive consensus document in the negotiation process—a joint statement. Sitting across from us were Anastasiades and Christodoulides."

He reiterated that "since February 2014, no agreement has been signed between the two sides. The sole reason for this is the Greek Cypriot side’s unwillingness to share the governance and wealth of the island with us."
