Fatal Accident on Famagusta-Nicosia Road: One Suspect on the Run, One Arrested
According to the Police Press Office, a hit-and-run driver struck Buğra Kılıç, who was then hit again by another driver, Berkcan Lisani, on the same road. Kılıç lost his life at the scene.
The accident occurred on February 18, 2025, at around 12:30 a.m. on the Famagusta-Nicosia Highway near the Çanakkale Pond.
A yet-to-be-identified driver traveling westbound in the left lane struck Buğra Kılıç, who was walking on the road at the time. The impact threw Kılıç forward into the left lane. Shortly after, 28-year-old Berkcan Lisani, who was driving a vehicle with license plate VJ 904 in the same direction, ran over Kılıç, lost control of his vehicle, and veered off the road.
Kılıç was pronounced dead at the scene. The first driver, whose identity and vehicle details remain unknown, fled the scene without providing any information.
Police have arrested Berkcan Lisani and stated that the investigation is ongoing.
