At Least 1,500 Voter Signatures Required for Presidential Candidacy, Says Arıkl

Minister of Public Works and Transport and Rebirth Party (YDP) Leader Erhan Arıklı announced on social media that YDP has submitted an amendment proposal for the Election and Referendum Law to Parliament.

Highlighting the key detail of the proposal, Arıklı stated, "In addition to the legal requirements for running for president, we have proposed that candidates must also collect at least 1,500 voter signatures and submit them to the Supreme Election Board (YSK)."
Arıklı emphasized that the presidency is a highly significant position and that those aspiring to the role should demonstrate serious qualifications and public support. He argued that the current law allows too many candidates to enter the race for publicity or ideological promotion, which undermines the gravity of the office and the election process.
He added that YDP has explained the amendment proposal to other party leaders in Parliament and expressed hope that necessary action would be taken.
