Eight Fires and 16 Special Service Incidents in TRNC Last Week

According to the report published by the Fire Department, from February 17 to 23, a total of eight fires and 16 special service incidents occurred in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). The total damage caused by the fires during this period amounted to 573,500 TL.

The probable causes of the fires were listed as: "short circuits caused by electricity, overloads in electrical panels, cigarette butts discarded without being fully extinguished, coal from a fireplace being dumped into a plastic trash bin without being fully extinguished, which caused the bin to catch fire, and the heating of an active fireplace chimney igniting the wooden roof beams."

The special service incidents included: "rescuing individuals trapped in vehicles after traffic accidents, saving a dog that fell into a well, cutting and removing a ring stuck on a person’s finger, ensuring road safety, taking fire safety measures, providing fire training, and transporting deceased individuals to the hospital for forensic investigation."
