Christodoulides Joins EU Talks Ahead of Emergency Summit

President Nikos Christodoulides took part in a videoconference meeting with European Union leaders on Wednesday as they prepared for next week’s emergency European council summit in Brussels. The meeting, convened by European council president Antonio Costa, focused on Ukraine and the EU’s security and defence policies.

The discussions come ahead of the March 6 summit, where EU leaders are expected to address the ongoing war in Ukraine and its impact on Europe. French President Emmanuel Macron briefed participants on his recent meeting with US President Donald Trump, providing insights into transatlantic cooperation on security matters.
Christodoulides and other EU leaders examined strategies to strengthen the bloc’s defence capabilities and ensure continued support for Ukraine. With geopolitical tensions high, the upcoming summit is set to shape the EU’s response to current security challenges.
