Tatar: Any Cyprus Agreement Will Be State-to-State, Not Community-to-Community

President Ersin Tatar has reaffirmed that the new national policy for Cyprus is a two-state solution, emphasizing that the federal option is no longer on the table.

Speaking at a B2B networking event organized in cooperation with the Kyrenia Young Businessmen Association and the Antalya branch of the Anatolian Tigers Business Association, Tatar underlined that if there is to be an agreement on Cyprus, it will be conducted between states, not communities.
“The state is our guarantee, our security, and the key to our prosperity on this land,” Tatar stated, emphasizing that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will be part of any potential settlement on the island.
Tatar highlighted the resilience of Turkish Cypriot entrepreneurs, who have continued to produce and thrive despite international embargoes. He suggested that in the digital age, new mechanisms could be developed to circumvent the impact of isolation.
Referring to the upcoming TEKNOFEST event, scheduled to take place under the TRNC Presidency's patronage from May 1-4, Tatar noted that the event will inspire young people to engage in technology and science, attract international interest, and contribute to the promotion of the TRNC. He expressed gratitude to Selçuk Bayraktar, Chairman of Baykar and the T3 Foundation, for his role in bringing the event to the country.
Addressing the economic vision for the TRNC, Tatar stated that in addition to the tourism and higher education sectors, the government aims to develop free trade zones, technology parks, and a strong engineering and software sector as new economic pillars. He also announced that efforts to enhance digital infrastructure, including a fiber optic network, are ongoing.
Despite embargoes affecting sports, trade, and economic activities, Tatar expressed confidence that global projects in technology, real estate, and construction would help overcome these challenges. He reiterated the TRNC’s commitment to advancing with Turkey in both the "Blue Homeland" (maritime strategy) and "Sky Homeland" (aerospace ambitions), emphasizing that with the support of Turkey, the Turkish world, and its diaspora, the TRNC will continue to progress in economic, social, and cultural fields.
