The case, which initially focused on former Morphou Police Chief Barış Sel, has now widened after Gündüz, currently in prison, provided two new written testimonies to the police.

In his statements, handed over to authorities in January 2025, Gündüz claimed that Kemal Dürüst and Barış Sel frequently met, and that Sel had urgently requested a diploma. According to Gündüz, Dürüst responded, “Let’s graduate him and issue a diploma. He is a police chief.”

Gündüz stated that he had warned both Sel and Dürüst that a diploma could not be granted without attending classes, but Dürüst allegedly pressured him to assist Sel.

As part of the broader corruption investigation at KSTÜ, Kemal Dürüst, who was previously under investigation without detention, has now been formally included in the “Fake Diploma” probe.
