Minister Ataoğlu: Health, Culture, and Gastronomy Promoted at Berlin Tourism Fair

Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu stated that the country's strengths in health, culture, and gastronomy were highlighted at this year's Berlin International Tourism Exchange (ITB) Fair.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA) at the fair, which hosts participants from 186 countries, Ataoğlu emphasized its significance, saying, "As the TRNC, we take our place at this fair every year. This year, we are participating with a slightly different concept. We are here with all our sectors, particularly focusing on gastronomy, culture, and health tourism."
Underlining the importance of tourism, Ataoğlu said, "Being an island nation, the TRNC is naturally a tourism destination. Our country stands out with its unique beauty, historical richness, and natural wonders that can be enjoyed year-round. The sea, sand, and sun are already there, but we are also promoting all other factors that contribute to this journey."
Highlighting the country's appeal, Ataoğlu stated, "The TRNC is so full of beauty that it cannot simply be described—it must be experienced. We invite everyone to visit, savor our flavors, and immerse themselves in our country."
Ataoğlu noted that continuous communication and consultation with Türkiye regarding tourism cooperation had led to increased visibility for the TRNC in European media. He also announced that promotional activities, which had been paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic, had resumed in Türkiye.
Charter Flights from Germany
Ataoğlu pointed out that Germany remains the leading source of tourists visiting the TRNC. "We are organizing charter flights from Germany and maintaining incentives for these flights. We believe that, with this incentive system, the number of tourists will increase even further," he said.
He also emphasized the frequent appearance of TRNC advertisements on German television channels and expressed optimism that the number of German tourists would continue to rise.
