Speaking following the re-election of UBP MP Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu as party secretary-general, Üstel highlighted the recent completion of the party congress on September 21, 2024, as well as the subsequent renewal of local party organizations in accordance with party regulations.

The Prime Minister noted that members of the Party Assembly had been elected during the congress, followed by the selection of the Central Executive Committee (MYK). The election of the secretary-general was the final step in completing the party’s internal processes. Congratulating Hasipoğlu on his third consecutive term, Üstel wished him success in his duties.

UNCONDITIONAL SOCIAL SECURITY PREMIUM SUPPORT

Üstel outlined the government’s ongoing efforts, emphasizing that all sectors would now benefit from social security premium support without restrictions.

“We had already been providing premium incentives to Turkish Cypriot citizens. This year, we are expanding the scheme to ensure that 'Social Security Premium Support' will be available across all sectors,” he stated.

Additionally, Üstel reiterated the government's commitment to encouraging female participation in the workforce. “Since we took office, we have been providing premium support to help women become more active in business life and entrepreneurship. Now, we are launching a new initiative: regardless of their sector, Turkish Cypriot women will receive a 100% premium incentive.”

Furthermore, he announced the introduction of a low-interest credit package worth 500,000 TL to support women entering the workforce.

While affirming the continuation of social security premium support for all other sectors, Üstel also noted that future economic conditions would be evaluated with sector representatives before making any changes.

CENEVA MEETING

Üstel confirmed that he would travel to Geneva for the informal 5+1 Cyprus meeting scheduled for March 17-18.

“Our position on Cyprus remains unchanged: ‘two sovereign and internationally equal states.’ We will attend the discussions with this stance, and we will all see how the negotiations unfold,” he said.
