Çeler: YÖDAK Appointment is a Scandal, It Makes No Sense at All
Zeki Çeler, the leader of the Communal Democracy Party (TDP), emphasized that the appointment of Prof. Dr. Aykut Hoca, the former Rector of Eastern Mediterranean University (DAÜ), as the President of YÖDAK (Higher Education Planning, Evaluation, Accreditation, and Coordination Council), is a scandalous decision.
In a written statement, Zeki Çeler stated that after Turgay Avcı, the appointment of Prof. Dr. Aykut Hoca to YÖDAK is a scandalous decision, and the reason for this decision must be explained immediately.
"WHILE WE TALKED ABOUT QUALITY, GOOD GOVERNANCE, AND MERITOCRACY, YOU ONLY PERCEIVED THEM AS 'PARTISAN AND FAVORITES'"
In a country where the presidency of Ersin Tatar has turned the university into a garbage dump due to wrong appointments and political and vested interests, Zeki Çeler emphasized that it makes no sense for someone who is one of the architects of the crises at EMU, one of the most prestigious universities in the country, to be appointed to oversee all universities.
"RESCIND THE APPOINTMENT IMMEDIATELY!"
Çeler pointed out that Hoca's tenure at EMU, which ended with his resignation due to the pressure exerted by the unions at EMU, is a recent memory, and questioned how someone who could not take care of, manage, or overcome the financial crisis at his own university could oversee the entire university sector.
Çeler said, "While we talk about quality, good governance, and meritocracy, you only perceive them as 'partisan and favorites'. People learn from their mistakes. However, it seems you are drinking raw milk. This appointment decision should be rescinded immediately, and regardless of their political affiliation, a person who will bring the university sector to a better place, who is competent and does not have a history of failures, should be appointed there."
