At the congress, it was unanimously accepted that Bertan Zaroğlu would be the Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson, and would be the first candidate for the Nicosia first place deputy in the first general election. The charter congress of the New Birth Party (YDP) was held. The National Party joined the New Birth Party.

With the amendments to the charter, it was unanimously accepted that Bertan Zaroğlu would be the Deputy Chairman and Party Spokesperson, and would be the first candidate for the Nicosia first place deputy in the first general election.

At the Charter Congress held at the Rauf Denktaş University Cultural Center in Nicosia at 10.00, the joining of the National Party to the YDP was also submitted for approval and approved.

Under the slogan "We will Unite and Grow. We will Grow and Develop," a presidium was first established at the congress, followed by a minute of silence and the National Anthem.

Later, the Chairman of the Presidium, Turan Büyükyılmaz, stated that they would do their best for the growth and rise of the YDP.

In turn, YDP Chairman Erhan Arıklı, Bertan Zaroğlu, and former Ministers Kenan Akın each made a speech at the Congress.

ARIKLI

YDP Chairman and Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Erhan Arıklı, apologized for the last-minute change in the location of this congress, which was planned to take place at the Near East University and was moved to the Rauf Denktaş University Cultural Center, stating that there were party members who could not attend the congress due to being unaware of this change.

Arıklı pointed out that the Rauf Denktaş University Cultural Center building holds different memories for him, stating that this hall, which witnessed the sinking of the New Birth Party in 1988, now witnesses the rise of the New Birth Party.

Stating that they aim to achieve 25% of the votes in any early election, Arıklı said, "We do not have the luxury of alienating anyone from the party." He expressed that they have not been able to explain what they have done and achieved as a party, and emphasized that political virtue is to leave resentments behind and look forward.

Arıklı stated that they will spread the party to the TRNC with the changes to be made in the charter and emphasized that the YDP will be reborn.

He stressed that the presidential election to be held in 2025 is very important, saying, "In this election, the ideas of federation and the survival of the TRNC will compete. We are not in favor of any understanding that will eliminate the TRNC in the presidential election." Arıklı said, "As a party that describes the federation as a grave, we will continue to be the dominant factor in the presidential election once again."

ZAROGLU

Later, inviting Bertan Zaroğlu to the stage, Arıklı announced hand in hand the merger of the two parties.

Zaroğlu also said in his speech that he was present at the establishment of the New Birth Party, and now he is proud to be here.

Zaroğlu said that the Turkish Cypriot people are a people who love to talk about politics, stating that the past debates and disagreements are now buried in the ground.

Emphasizing that with this merger, the YDP will become a party with 8-10 deputies, Zaroğlu said, "The goal is to be the first party in the first general election."

AKIN

Former Minister Kenan Akın also made a speech, providing information about the congress held in this hall in the past and then closed party, summarizing the events of that period.

Stating that we should not allow the repetition of the past and we should learn from the past, Akın emphasized that the steps of the New Birth Party, which aims to have 10 deputies in this hall where the New Birth Party was finished, were taken.

VOTING ON THE AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER

After the speeches, the amendments made to the party's charter were voted on and approved, and the additional charter articles prepared for the next congress to be dissolved with the merger of the two parties were also voted on.
