Ahmet Savaşan Passes the Presidency Baton to Ciobanu

The new president of the Global Healthcare Travel Council (GHTC) was determined through elections at the General Assembly convened in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) with the participation of representatives from fifty countries. Dr. Natalia Ciobanu from Moldova won the election, which saw competition from delegates representing three countries.

The country to serve as president for the 2024-26 term for the GHTC, which has 56 member countries, was determined during the 6th Global Healthcare Travel Forum and Conference (GHTF2024) hosted by the TRNC. The General Assembly, attended by delegates from GHTC member countries, saw Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Moldova competing for the presidency, with Moldova emerging as the winner.

TRANSFER OF THE PRESIDENCY FLAG FROM TRNC TO MOLDOVA

Dr. Ahmet Savaşan, Member of Parliament of the TRNC and the incumbent President of the GHTC for the 2023-24 term, handed over the presidency flag to Dr. Natalia Ciobanu, the newly elected president representing Moldova. Fikri Ataoğlu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment of the TRNC, who assumed the Presidency of the High Consultation Council for the GHTC during the 2023-24 term, also participated in the ceremony.

The 6th Global Healthcare Travel Forum and Conference (GHTF2024) was held in Northern Cyprus, bringing together industry leaders, academics, health and tourism professionals, and policymakers. This year's forum, featuring a conference section, marked the first time this new format was introduced.

GHTF2024 ATTRACTS MORE THAN 300 PARTICIPANTS FROM 50 COUNTRIES

The event, hosted by the TRNC, saw participation from over 300 delegates representing more than 50 countries, including high-ranking officials from the TRNC such as the President, Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment, Foreign Minister, Finance Minister, as well as delegates who previously served as presidents and executives of the GHTC. Additionally, representatives from health, tourism, and education authorities from the TRNC and Turkey were also present.
