Land Issue Vital for Country's Future, Says Minister Oğuz

Oğuz emphasized that as the administration, they must consider all sides of the issue and explained how they arrived at the 100% threshold. Initially, they proceeded through the parcel system, but encountered difficulties. He reminded of the measures taken regarding the sector and the prohibition of sale to foreigners.

Stating that they consider the balances while taking steps and that the issue is still being debated, Oğuz expressed the importance they place on the opposition's views. He noted that they would reassess the matter and emphasized agreement on fundamental issues despite ongoing discussions due to data deficiencies.

"The land issue concerns the country's future, and we are sensitive about it," Oğuz said, mentioning ongoing discussions on the matter and indicating that CTP's suggestions would also be considered.

During Oğuz's speech, CTP MP Teberrüken Uluçay raised concerns about potential future political issues arising from distinctions between those "opening" and "not opening" embassies. Uluçay also highlighted potential complications with the provision allowing 30% sales to TRNC citizens, noting that one person could buy the entire 30%, posing a problem.

CTP MP Ongun Talat, also intervening, pointed out the absence of any measures to lower housing prices in the proposed changes. He expressed concerns that if the door is opened for three apartments for Turkish citizens now, it could lead to irreversible consequences later, suggesting considering the decision as temporary.

In response, Oğuz pointed out the grievances caused by shared sales and indicated that anomalies could be discussed. He stated that they had made necessary regulations based on sector demands and that all requests could be discussed in the committee.
