Holguin Speaks to the Press Following Meeting with President Tatar: "Responsibility Now Lies with the Leaders"

Holguin described her meeting with President Tatar as "constructive," noting that during the meeting, Tatar reiterated his position. She mentioned discussing her visits to various countries during the meeting, emphasizing the importance of international support for a lasting solution in Cyprus. "Responsibility now lies with the leaders," she said.

The Colombian diplomat mentioned meeting with various individuals, including representatives from civil society organizations, the private sector, and youth groups during her visits to Cyprus. She expressed hope that leaders would listen to the people's desires for progress and take action accordingly.

During her meeting with Tatar, Holguin was accompanied by her advisor, Patti Londono.

Appointed by the Secretary-General to seek common ground for the resumption of negotiations between the two sides in Cyprus, Holguin is expected to continue her consultations on the island until May 14th.
