When asked about Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s warnings regarding the use of Southern Cyprus as a base for Israeli operations in Gaza, Yerapetritis deemed these statements unconstructive. He emphasized that Southern Cyprus engages in significant humanitarian efforts and does not participate in military operations, adding that the European Union (EU) countries supported Southern Cyprus on this matter during the recent EU Foreign Ministers meeting in Luxembourg.

Yerapetritis stated, "Neither Greece nor (Southern) Cyprus accepts advice or recommendations. We will continue on our path to speak with all parties and make constructive contributions to both peace and humanitarian aid."

Addressing whether there can be normalization in Turkish-Greek relations without resolving the Cyprus issue, Yerapetritis said, "Our effort to progress with Turkey in calmer waters is an endeavor to achieve peace and prosperity in our region. I believe that normalization in Turkish-Greek relations will also positively impact the Cyprus issue."

He acknowledged that Athens is aware of Turkey’s fundamental position on the Cyprus issue and understands that this stance is unlikely to change.

Yerapetritis emphasized that the Cyprus issue is a top priority in Greece's foreign policy, stating, "We are striving with all our might to restart negotiations on the Cyprus issue."

Highlighting the importance of open communication channels between Turkey and Greece for creating a favorable climate for progress on the Cyprus issue, Yerapetritis concluded, "Turkey must play a constructive role in this matter to initiate negotiations. This is the path of reason. Without dialogue, there can be no solution."
