Drunk Drivers Cause Accidents in İskele and Nicosia

Two separate traffic accidents involving drunk drivers occurred in İskele and Nicosia, with both drivers losing control of their vehicles, resulting in damage but no injuries.

According to police reports, on September 17, 2024, at around 11:55 PM, 43-year-old Oktay Kıraç lost control of his NV 459-registered vehicle while trying to make a left turn at the Yonca Junction on the İskele-Ercan main road. Kıraç, who was driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level of 156 milligrams, veered off the road and his car overturned onto its left side in a nearby field.

No injuries were reported in the accident, but legal action has been initiated against the driver, and the investigation is ongoing.

Chain Collision in Nicosia

On September 18, 2024, at 3:30 AM, another accident occurred on Anittepe Street in Nicosia. Faruk Özkan, 25, lost control of his KY 494-registered vehicle while driving with a blood alcohol level of 154 milligrams. He crashed into a parked car, causing a chain reaction. The parked NU 641-registered car was pushed backward, hitting another vehicle with the registration NS 988, which then collided with an electric pole.

No injuries were reported in this accident either. Legal proceedings have been initiated against Özkan, and the investigation continues.
