In an interview with Politis newspaper, both Nami and Mavroyannis indicated that they do not foresee major progress at the UN meetings in New York. They pointed out that while certain perspectives regarding the Cyprus problem may emerge in the upcoming period, substantial changes are not expected.

Nami commented on the concepts of sovereign equality and political equality, noting some ambiguities in Ersin Tatar's positions. When asked about the differences between these concepts in Tatar's mind, Nami suggested that there are inconsistencies in Tatar's views.

Mavroyannis, on the other hand, suggested that there is a reluctance on Turkey's part to be blamed for the lack of movement on the Cyprus issue. Both former negotiators share the belief that Tatar’s proposals reflect changes and uncertainties.

They concurred that while no significant developments are anticipated during the UN General Assembly, any potential actions might occur within October.
