27-Year-Old Muhammad Waleed Dies After Being Struck by Falling Rebar in Kyrenia
Muhammad Waleed, 27, has tragically passed away following a construction accident in Kyrenia. The incident occurred on October 10, 2024, when a steel rebar being lowered with a lifting rope slipped and struck Waleed on the head as he waited on the ground floor of the construction site.
The accident took place around 9:30 AM at a construction site on Kubbeli Çeşme Street. According to reports, 41-year-old M.Y., who was operating the lifting equipment, failed to secure the rebar properly, causing it to fall and hit Waleed in the back of the head.
Waleed was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit at Near East University Hospital but succumbed to his injuries on October 14, 2024. Authorities stated that the exact cause of death will be determined following an autopsy.
Following the accident, three individuals, including M.Y., 51-year-old S.A., and 26-year-old H.İ.Ç., were arrested as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident.
