In a written statement on October 7 regarding the uncertainty surrounding the election of the Speaker of Parliament, Akpınar, who is also the DP’s MP for Kyrenia, reiterated the party’s commitment to supporting the government and its initiatives to enhance public welfare.

Akpınar highlighted that the Democratic Party, as part of the coalition government, is taking on all necessary responsibilities to ensure stability and promote the well-being of the public. He also noted that DP MPs fully supported the UBP candidate in the parliamentary speaker election, and the voting process was closely monitored and evaluated.

"The Democratic Party does not interfere in the internal management and legal decisions of the other political parties within the coalition," Akpınar added, stating that they will continue to act with common sense and a problem-solving approach for the future of the people.
