The suspects were initially detained after presenting fake power of attorney documents to facilitate the sale of property owned by the Shafer company in Nicosia. The police investigation revealed that the suspects collaborated to forge and sell multiple properties using falsified documents.

According to the investigation, Enver Yücel orchestrated three fraudulent property sales, including a house in Gönyeli and a plot of land in Balıkesir, generating over £650,000. Police further discovered that Yücel used a fake power of attorney to sell Shafer's land for £520,000, receiving payment by check and cashing it with the help of a forged company seal. Yücel used part of the proceeds to buy two vehicles and distributed some of the money among other parties involved.

The police detailed how the suspects erased evidence, including phone messages and communications, but forensic efforts to recover these records are ongoing. After presenting evidence to the court, the judge ruled that while Yücel and his accomplices pose a flight risk, they will be released on strict bail conditions, including cash deposits, local guarantors, and mandatory check-ins at local police stations.
