Following the informal dinner at the UN headquarters hosted by Guterres, Tatar spoke at a press conference, addressing an AA correspondent’s question on whether Guterres better understands the TRNC's position of not relinquishing statehood and sovereignty and favoring a two-state solution.

Tatar reiterated that the TRNC's stance remains unchanged, stating, "I presented a new vision because 50 years of federal solution efforts have failed." He emphasized that the TRNC will not return to official negotiations until its sovereign equality and international status are confirmed.

During the dinner, several issues were discussed, Tatar noted, including the ongoing impacts of embargoes and isolation on the TRNC. He confirmed that an agreement was reached with Guterres for the next meeting to be held with the participation of both Turkey and Greece.

Additionally, Tatar stated that he and Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Christodoulides agreed to meet in Cyprus to discuss the potential opening of new crossing points. This would proceed if the proposed requests are deemed acceptable.
