Özersay: “The Moment to Oppose the ‘De Facto Occupation’ in Parliament Has Passed”

People’s Party (HP) leader Kudret Özersay criticized the lack of opposition to the UBP-DP-YDP coalition government, which has been in power for over two and a half years. Özersay argued that the opposition had been silent and acquiescent, allowing what he called a “de facto occupation” of the people’s will to persist.

Commenting on the ongoing debate over the position of Parliament Speaker, Özersay emphasized that both the government and opposition now act out of concern over this “de facto occupation.”

He remarked, “While there is a struggle over Ziya Bey’s position as Speaker today, the opposition should have resisted Ünal Bey’s premiership two and a half years ago and defended the people’s will. It’s too late now – the market has closed,” expressing his frustration with both the government and opposition. He urged them to truly represent the public's interests and take action.
