TRNC President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ersin Tatar, highlighted the TRNC’s potential to contribute to the Turkish world at the 11th Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (TDT) in Kyrgyzstan.
Expressing gratitude to Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov for the invitation, Tatar emphasized the importance of the TRNC’s presence at the summit for Turkish Cypriots.
Tatar noted the historical significance of the Kyrgyz people and underscored the strength gained through unity among nations that share the same language, religion, culture, and roots. He highlighted the strategic location of the TRNC in the Eastern Mediterranean and the TRNC’s commitment to cooperating in all areas of TDT activities.
Referring to the TRNC’s role in the Eastern Mediterranean, Tatar stressed the importance of lifting the unjust isolation imposed on Turkish Cypriots and emphasized the potential of TRNC's Ercan Airport and Famagusta Port to foster opportunities. He also pointed to the TRNC’s advanced education sector, with three universities ranked among the world’s top 1,000, and its potential as a scientific hub.
Tatar also addressed the critical water project from Turkey, which supports agriculture and food security, and noted the potential energy contributions from hydrocarbon resources around the island. With over one million tourists annually, Tatar underlined the TRNC's appeal as an investment destination, backed by its developed infrastructure, skilled workforce, and multicultural environment.
Thanking Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his support in calling for TRNC recognition at the UN General Assemblies, Tatar reiterated the TRNC’s role as the Turkish world’s steadfast representative of rights and interests in the Eastern Mediterranean. He called on the Turkish world to intensify efforts toward the TRNC’s recognition and support for a fair, lasting solution to the Cyprus issue.
