Speaking on Sabah Postası with Gökhan Altıner on Kıbrıs Postası TV, Oğuz addressed the ongoing debate surrounding the Parliament Speaker election, stressing the need to maintain Parliament’s functionality.

Oğuz highlighted Parliament’s current standstill, noting that the legislative backlog is detrimental to the country. "We’re in a vicious cycle, and each day that passes harms the country. The budget is pending, laws are on hold. Parliament must fulfill its legislative duties," he said, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming session next Monday, when President Ersin Tatar is expected to attend and Ziya Öztürkler will call for the opening of Parliament.

"Parliament Speaker Election Process Is Complete"

Oğuz confirmed that the election process has concluded and dismissed concerns over the election's validity, despite differing views from some groups. “In our view, the process is over. We have no issue with the Parliament Speakership. Others may, but I don’t see what they stand to gain. Official records show it was won with 26 votes,” he noted.

"We Want to Keep Parliament Functional"

Oğuz reiterated their commitment to keeping Parliament operational, clarifying that the debates surrounding the election are baseless. "The election was published in the Official Gazette, and the process is complete. Creating the impression that the Speaker has not been elected is incorrect," he asserted.
