In a statement posted on his personal social media account, Akansoy reiterated his call for early elections, saying, "Problems cannot be addressed without a legitimate and strong government that knows what it wants."

Akansoy’s statement read as follows:
"The government parties are putting in considerable effort to delegate their internal problems onto the opposition. Democracy and the rule of law have been trampled upon—this is a fact. The greatest threat stemming from this is the tendency to authoritarianize the political system and attempts to obscure the catastrophic mismanagement of the Cyprus issue. We cannot ignore the efforts to destroy the economic, social, cultural, and political values of the Turkish Cypriot community.
The government is playing for extra time. Nothing can bring about reconciliation within the UBP or the government anymore. Their only common goal is their desire to maintain their seats, hence their refusal to call for early elections. However, this choice is not sustainable. The country is facing a massive crisis in every sector. Without a legitimate and strong government that knows what it wants, problems cannot be solved. The public and various sectors will suffer even greater harm as a result of the current course.
Therefore, we stand firm on early elections, democracy, and the rule of law. The solution lies in adopting, internalizing, and living a system based on democracy and the rule of law."
